woRKING ON my final Thesis Submission
Today I added more information to my paper. I checked my sources for my paper. Mr. Cullins gave me a peptalk regarding my lack of success in passing the Calculus AP Exam, which is slightly depressing. After that, I was kind of sad, yet more motivated to get my act together in every subject. The struggle to finish everything before it is due is so difficult. I hope I succeed.

SO Much to do
I updated my resume and sent it to Dr. Jensen because she is writing me a recommendation letter. I checked once again the guidelines and requirements for the final Thesis submission. More work was done on my paper; I have to add evidence. Its not as hard, though, because im basically writing about my life.

Dr. Umar Johnson
Today, I listened to a few podcasts from a man named Dr. Umar Johnson. He spoke about God, religion, and their role in the black community. He made a connection between the black community now and how religion alters our being. I also looked up a scholarship. for women in engineering.

My Thesis wasn't on the schedule?!?!? I talked to you about that. Hopefully, I can get my time slot and date. Other than that mini panic attack, I talked to my judge about other judges. I worked more on my paper. I found new sources. I believe I am going in the desired direction for the paper, and progress is being made.

Kick in the Pants
I overviewed the components necessary for the final submission of the thesis project. More content on my paprer has been added. I have a lot of sources, I am finding. My judge has agreed to judge my project but has not responded to my latest email. More work is being put into my project as we speak. I have a lot to do. It is seriously crunch time. I hope I can keep up.

Help =Found :)
I found some help. Some helpful links. I started looking at the souls of black folk by W.E.B. DuBois and a syllabus for an African AMerican studies course at Columbia University. I wrote more of my research paper as well.

Motivation
Today, I was motivated by the panicky speech you gave us at the beginning of class. It really added some fuel to my fire. I worked on and edited my process paper. I now have about six pages of material. I am starting with my personal experience with the light-skin versus dark-skin conflict. I then want to go into the information I found throughout my research. It is coming together. I am aslo thinking of adding a product in addition to my paper.

Countdown to Thesis
I found an interesting blog that listed the stereotypes associated with African Americans, particularly light skinned one. FYI I somewhat changed my thesis to a more specific title. I am now dealing with changes within the African American community with respect to skin tone and dskin tone bias. This way, I am able to concentrate on a specific topic of my area of research and look at more present-day problems.

Today's Activities
I reviewed an interview between my pastor, Frederick Douglas Haynes III and Donald E. Lacy Jr.THey discussed the parameters of Haynes's work, from church to politics. Haynes expressed his point of view on the problems that continue to hold the African Americans back. His commentary gives a more dynamic and real perspective on my project. I am looking into contacting him to be my mentor.

More Research
I read up on some of the origins of the African American culture. It gave a general idea of where backgrounds of African American traditions came from.

More About Colorism
Continuing research on colorism and general racism. I learned some of the politics and complexities of racism. As it turns out, in-group racism is more damaging than racism by other ethnic groups.

Colorism & Scholarships
I got a scholarship to Prairie View A&M University!!!!! :)
I also worked in my application for the Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship.
I read an article about colorism within a race. It was an article by collective scholars discussing why there are differences among blacks due to color. I learned that many dark-skinned blacks are largely at disadvantage in hiring, marriage, financial standing, etc. Also, colorism is more widely recognized and acknowledged by women rather than men. This article contributes to my research findings.
